Salisbury basketball team downs Brunswick for sixth straight win

Brunswick School dropped an 82-52 decision to surging Salisbury School in a non-league basketball game held on Monday.

The host Crimson Knights entered halftime with a 40-19 lead and increased their advantage in the second half.

The Crimson Knights, who honored their seniors in their final home game of the season, were paced by Justin Oliveras’ 18 points. Salisbury also received double-digit scoring from Damani Thomas, who had 14 points, Brandon Roughley (12 points) and Dean Fratt (10 points).

Parker Stone (nine points), Tacoma Simmons (seven points) and Tyler Carpenter (six points) rounded out Salisbury’s scoring.

Salisbury extended its winning streak to six games and is 8-1 in its last nine matchups. With a NEPSAC Class A record of 6-3 and an overall mark of 11-6, Salisbury has put itself into the playoff mix, after starting its season at 1-4.

Chisom Okpara, a 6-foot-7 freshman forward, scored a game-high 32 points for Brunswick. Sophomore guard Tristan Joseph added six points and forward Will Prout chipped four points for the Bruins.

Brunswick, which is 4-14 overall and 3-8 in the FAA, hosts Masters School on Wednesday in a game that could determine the last spot in next week’s FAA Tournament.
