Kaloom Participates in a Cloud Native 5G Multi-Vendor Demonstration at Kubecon

November 20, 2019

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 20, 2019--

Kaloom TM, an emerging leader in the automated data center networking software market, today announced a live multi-vendor demonstration at Kubecon of a 5G cloud native network that includes public, edge and private clouds. The multi-vendor demonstration is being conducted together with the Linux Foundation’s LF Networking and OPNFV projects, Red Hat, Alibaba, China Mobile, A10 Networks, Commscope, Intel, Lenovo, Loodse, Turnium, and OpenAirInterface.

Kaloom’s User Plane Function (UPF), Software Defined Fabric TM and Cloud Edge Fabric TM 5G offerings are well-suited for new emerging 5G Cloud Edge, Hybrid 4/5G and 5G Packet Core deployments. It offers the most scalable, lowest latency with the highest performance solution in the industry. The Kaloom UPF is the only solution in the marketplace today that is cloud native with built-in network and data center slicing capabilities for end-to-end multi-tenancy. 3GPP release 15 with an enhanced feature set including slicing, automation, packet-based and flow-based visibility in real time, SRv6 and data model driven management.

“Service providers are keenly focused on creating elastic, open, and highly performant virtual system infrastructures for 4G/LTE and emerging 5G services,” said Paul Parker-Johnson, Chief Analyst at ACG Research. “Among their biggest challenges in accomplishing this are deploying distributed fabrics with the intelligence to support per-service slicing, granular traffic management to optimize the performance of 4G and 5G applications simultaneously, and whole stack programmability to support 5G’s distributed control and user planes at scale. Kaloom’s visionary software-defined and cloud edge fabrics supply these capabilities to providers. They deliver the open fabric operators need when adopting modular infrastructure architectures such as VCO, and make deployment of efficient and highly scalable designs such as an integrated, standards-compliant 5G user plane function possible.”

“Much as in traditional enterprise data centers, service providers are ramping up their use of cloud native technologies like Kubernetes to build next-generation workloads. Red Hat is pleased to collaborate with partners like Kaloom and the Linux Foundation to showcase a cloud-native mobile network built on an opensource infrastructure this year at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America,” said Tom Nadeau, technical director, NFV, Red Hat.”

“There is strong momentum in the telco industry for open source networking and collaboration. The 5G Cloud Native Network proof-of-concept brings the community together to build, learn and improve open source cloud native solutions that telcos are eager to leverage for their future networks,” said Heather Kirksey, vice president, Community and Ecosystem Development, the Linux foundation.

“We are very pleased to be part of this powerful cloud native multivendor demonstration at Kubecon together with Linux Foundation and Red Hat. The VCO 3.0 showcases our Software Defined Fabric and Cloud Edge Fabric strengths with low latency, high performance and full automation. Our UPF has been designed for mission-critical workloads and we have made major improvements in CNI to improve reliability and availability for Kubernetes networking,” says Per Andersson, chief architect at Kaloom.
