Men charged in early morning Parma Heights police chases

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Two men are facing charges in two police chases with police that happened early Wednesday.

JehJuan Durrah and Ravenel Young are charged with fleeing and eluding, receiving stolen property, obstructing and possession of criminal tools, Parma Heights police Capt. Steve Scharschmidt said.

The incident started about 3 a.m. in a parking lot on Pearl Road near Ackley Road.

An officer in the parking lot contacted dispatch after spotting two suspicious SUVs nearby. Both sped away.

Police chased one of the SUVs to East 30th Street and Chester Avenue in Cleveland, police said. The SUV had engine problems and lost a tire which ended the pursuit. The two suspects ran from the SUV. One of the suspects, later identified as Durrah, was found hiding in a dumpster, police said.

Police chased the second SUV and it struck a home in Parma Heights, police said. Two suspects ran from the SUV. One of the suspects, later identified as Ravenel Young, was arrested.

Both of the SUVs were reported stolen in Parma Tuesday, police said.

Investigators believe they were going to smash one of the SUVs into Cash Loans on Car Titles, steal the ATM and drive off in the other SUV, Scharschmidt said.
