Marine Charged With Climbing White House Fence
WASHINGTON (AP) _ An intoxicated Marine who said he was trying to get back to his base was arrested early Sunday morning after trying to climb the White House fence.
A Secret Service spokesman said an agent approached an ``extremely intoxicated″ man at the fence at about 4:10 a.m. The man told the officer he thought he was at the Quantico Marine base in suburban Virginia.
A few minutes later, the man, who was not armed, attempted to climb the fence but was restrained, the spokesman said.
Cpl. Jebediah Morris, 21, was arrested and charged with unlawful entry, a misdemeanor. He was turned over to District of Columbia officials, said Secret Service spokesman Carl Meyer. Morris is being held in a D.C. jail.
