Longmont Plans Controlled Burn at Quail Campus Pond
If weather permits, Longmont will be burning the cattails in and around the pond at its Quail Campus, 310 Quail Road, on Wednesday, city officials announced in a news release.
Officials said the controlled burn is needed to increase the holding capacity of the pond for irrigation of the landscaping.
Work is expected to start Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon, and the entire operation is anticipated to take half of the day.
The 44-acre Quail Campus, in addition to the pond and landscaped areas, includes a 10-court tennis complex and 18 developed acres where the Longmont Recreation Center and the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center are located.
