Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis Jr. Announce Concert Tour
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis Jr. will join forces in September for an 18-concert, 12-city U.S. tour, promoters announced Thursday.
The tour, dubbed ″The Ultimate Event,″ will debut at Houston’s Summit Arena on Sept. 17 and end at the Chicago Theater on Oct. 16, said Susan Reynolds, vice president of entertainment, marketing and publicity for Burson- Marsteller.
An extra performance on Nov. 26 at the Forum in Inglewood will benefit the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, she said.
″Liza has been a good friend for many years and my admiration for her is limitless,″ Davis said. ″Let me tell you, this will be a fall to remember.″
Dean Martin, who started out with rat-pack buddies Sinatra and Davis in their recent national ″Together Again″ tour, had to drop out after six concerts when an old kidney problem flared up. The rest of his 1988 performance schedule will be limited to Las Vegas, Nev.
″We miss Dean and we love him - he’s like a brother to me and Sam,″ Sinatra said. ″Liza is the greatest female performer of our time. She is a great lady and it is always a privilege to share a stage with her.
″The Ultimate Event″ will make stops in Houston; Phoenix, Ariz.; Atlanta; Miami; Tampa, Fla.; Philadelphia; Secaucus, N.J.; Uniondale, N.Y.; Worcester, Mass.; Chicago and Los Angeles.
