Islanders recall Halak from Sound Tigers
BRIDGEPORT — His nearly three-month AHL detour over, the New York Islanders recalled goalie Jaroslav Halak from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Thursday.
The veteran played 27 games for Bridgeport since being sent down on New Year’s Eve, going 17-7-3 and leading the Sound Tigers back into the playoff race. They’re tied for the fourth and final Atlantic Division playoff spot with 11 games remaining.
Halak, who made 27 saves Wednesday in a 3-1 win at Albany, is third in the AHL with a 2.15 goals-against average and fourth with a .925 save percentage.
The Sound Tigers hadn’t yet made a corresponding move Thursday morning. They’ll likely bring up Stephon Williams from Missouri (ECHL) to join Eamon McAdam.
