Morrison Council to review water main improvements
MORRISON – Morrison City Council members will review taking the initial step toward water main improvements at their meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Whiteside County Board Room.
Council members will consider an engineering agreement with Willett Hoffman & Associates for Phase 1 of the water system improvement project. This phase would include replacement of the water main and water services on Main Street stretching from Orange to Clinton Street. Work also would include areas on Genesee, Cherry and Clinton Streets from Main to Market Street.
Phase 1 would also include construction of a 10-inch diameter main from the west end of Wall Street to the existing 10-inch diameter main on US Route 30 near Milnes Drive to loop the dead end water main on Wall Street.
The agreement under consideration would include the design phase, a construction phase and an IEPA loan application documents phase.
City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen also will present to the council a proposal to tap into funds from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a sidewalk replacement project. The city is looking to submit a grant application to access the funds through Morrison’s Revolving Loan Fund with the State.
