Ludington superintendent, school board express concerns about ESD budget
The Ludington Area Schools Board of Education passed a resolution Monday approving a proposed general fund budget from the West Shore Educational Service District (ESD), but not without reservations.
Ludington Schools Superintendent Jason Kennedy said he and the board of education have concerns with the ESD budget. One, he said, is that for the last five years the ESD has spent significantly more money from its general fund than what has been collected. Secondly, Kennedy said the Ludington board of education has been asked to approve a general fund budget when trustees don’t fully understand what the ESD’s financial plan is for the next five years.
