Shots fired at house on Candlewood Road

December 7, 2017 GMT

FAIRFIELD — Police are searching for clues to why someone shot at a Candlewood Road home Wednesday night.

Two different neighbors called to report hearing gunshots at 9:18 p.m., and one saw a car, believed to be a sedan, speed away from the scene. The residents of the house that was targeted were not even aware of the incident, police said, despite one of the bullets piercing the home’s siding. No one was injured in the shooting.

Neighbors reported hearing at least six or seven gunshots and police recovered four .22 shell casings at the scene, two in the road in front of the house, two more in the yard. Four bullet holes were found in the front of the home, a small, gray cape.

One of the neighbors said she heard the shots, though they weren’t very loud, and when she looked outside she saw a red spark come out of the passenger side of the car before it sped away toward Black Rock Turnpike.

Candlewood Road is off of Black Rock Turnpike and close to McKinley School and the Pine Tree housing complex. Police, however, said at no time did it appear other residents were in any danger.

According to police, there have been no significant calls for service to the home, and they are asking anyone with information to call the Detective Bureau at 203-254-4840.
