Boughton adds political advisor to gubernatorial exploratory team
DANBURY - Mayor Mark Boughton has asked the political director from his 2014 run for governor to be the senior strategist for his 2018 gubernatorial exploratory team.
Boughton’s exploratory group, known as the Connecticut Comeback Committee, said Tuesday that John Kleinhans of East Lyme had been added to the team.
“We have worked as a team in the past and John’s experience will serve our organization well,” Boughton said in a prepared statement.
Boughton, an eight-term Republican, added Georgia fundraiser Lindsay Jacobs to his team earlier this month. Jacobs is in charge of raising $250,000 in small amounts by December, 2017, when Boughton will decide whether he has enough support to make a third run for the state’s highest office.
Kleinhans is the executive vice president of Search Integrations marketing agency, and the former executive director of the Connecticut Republican Party.
“I’m looking forward to guiding the committee to the strongest position for the mayor as he explores a run for statewide office in 2018,” Kleinhans said in a prepared statement.
