Stoneham Runs Wild Vs. Littleton

MEDFORD -- Stoneham came as advertised.

MIAA Div. 6 football semis

The Spartans improved to 11-0 on the season and earned a berth in the MIAA Division 6 Super Bowl with a crushing 45-7 win over Central Mass. Division 6 champion Littleton High.

The Tigers fell to 7-3 and will play a Thanksgiving game at Ayer-Shirley at 10 a.m. Thursday.

After a hard fought and scoreless first quarter, Stoneham would run off the next 45 points.

Junior Seth Russell rushed for 127 yards and a 24-yard scoring run. He caught 2 passes for 47 yards including a 31-yard scoring catch from junior Deshaun Chase. He also had 2 interceptions.

Quarterback Chase scored twice on plunges of 1 and 4 yards. Senior captain Christos Argyropoulos had a 60 yard interception return. Sophomore quarterback Chris Dragone added a 30 yard scoring run.

Littleton was held to just 12 plays in the first half to 36 for Stoneham.

Senior fullback Mitch Beaudoin had 24 yards on 9 carries for the Tigers. Sophomore quarterback Braden Lyons completed 7 of 19 passes for 54 yards but threw 3 interceptions.

Seniors Austin Lynn and Will Scott each had 2 catches in the game.

The lone Littleton score came on a 3-yard Scott run around left end. Freshman Cody Shearer had the conversion kick.
