Victim of fatal stabbing west of Airway Heights was attacker’s sister
The victim of a fatal stabbing Sunday morning west of Airway Heights was the attacker’s sister, according to recently released court documents.
The woman, identified as Sally Love, 67, was apparently living in a mobile home owned by her brother and alleged killer Daniel Love in the Fairchild Mobile Home Community on U.S. Highway 2 near the base.
At Daniel Love’s first court appearance Monday afternoon, District Court Judge Protem Eric Roth set bail at $500,000 and issued a no-contact order with the victim’s family, meaning he could not receive visits or communicate with his family. Daniel Love’s public defender reserved argument on bond, but did take issue with his client having no contact with his family.
Daniel Love is suspected of stabbing his sister in the back with a knife after a short argument in her room, according to court documents.
Sally Love’s roommate apparently heard Sally Love yelling at Daniel Love, and as he left his room to check on her, found her sitting on her bed, with blood on the pillow and a knife sheath on the floor. He asked her what was wrong but said she was having trouble breathing and fell to her knees and continue to gasp, he told deputies.
Moments before her roommate entered her bedroom, Sally Love called 911 saying she’d been stabbed and that she was passing out, documents state. The call disconnected before long.
Sally Love was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies located Daniel Love in a nearby field pacing back and forth, throwing his hands in the air and saying, “I did it. I killed my sister,” court documents state. Deputies noticed blood on his left arm and his left hand.
Love faces charges of second-degree murder. He has no prior felony convictions in Spokane County.
