Santa Claus to visit Laughlin River Lodge on Saturday
LAUGHLIN — Santa Claus will return this holiday season to the Laughlin River Lodge’s General Store to greet children from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
“He came to our General Store last year and it was a big success,” said Inna Platas, marketing and sales manager for the Laughlin River Lodge and Hoover Dam Lodge in Boulder City, Nevada.
Santa will be giving out free toy- and candy-filled stockings to children who come to visit him ,and posing for photographs on Saturday.
Platas said Santa used to only provide cheer to lodge employees and their families, but it was decided he also should be able to spend time with the public.
And the General Store, also completed last year, provides a good location for other holiday activities that children and their families can enjoy while Santa visits. There will be cookie decorating, keepsake making and writing letters to Santa.
The event is free.
Santa’s visit and the Lodge’s Halloween Pumpkin Patch Carving and Painting Contest, also held in the General Store, are both seasonal events the resort wants to see become community traditions, Platas emphasized.
There are some spots within the lodge where families can enjoy themselves, such as the retro-style bowling alley that includes a kids space.
“We definitely need more stuff for families to do in our little town,” she added.
In 2014, Dotty’s purchased what used to be the River Palms and turned it into the Laughlin River Lodge. It acquired the Hacienda Hotel and Casino near Boulder City in 2013. It’s now known as the River Dam Lodge.
