AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital appoints emergency department medical director

Dr. Patricia Kahn has been appointed medical director for AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital Kankakee.

Kahn, a board-certified emergency medicine physician, joins AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital Kankakee from Vituity at Garden Grove Hospital in Garden Grove, Calif., where she acted as an emergency medicine physician. Prior to that, she was an emergency medicine physician with Vituity at Methodist Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.

Kahn earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, where she continues to hold the position of adjunct professor of clinical medicine. She earned her specialty certification in emergency medicine from the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine after completing an emergency medicine residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in San Bernardino, Calif.

She earned her master’s in public health and medical epidemiology from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, Calif., and her bachelor’s in political science and international relations from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Kahn is active with the National Disaster Medical System, Disaster Medical Assistance Team. NDMS is a federally coordinated healthcare system and partnership of the United States Departments of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Kahn enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three children in various outdoor activities, including traveling, hiking and sailing.
