BHS baseball no-hit by Skutt
OMAHA -- Caleb Wallman gave up just one run in six innings of work against Omaha Skutt Monday night, but it wasn’t enough.
The Beatrice offense failed to get a hit Skutt’s Bryce Wesely in a 1-0 loss.
Wesely pitched seven innings against the Orangemen, giving up no hits while striking out five and walking one.
Wallman pitched all six innings for Beatrice and gave up one earned run on five hits while striking out five and walking two. He came up on the short end of the pitchers duel, though.
Skutt’s lone run came in the second inning. They led the inning off with a double followed by a walk. A ground out put runners at second and third with one out. A hit batsman loaded the bases and a sacrifice fly brought in the run.
Wallman would be able to induce a ground out to end the inning, keeping the score at 1-0.
Despite not getting a hit in the game, Beatrice did threaten to score in the seventh inning. The Skyhawks had four errors in teh game and two of them came in the seventh inning.
Peyton Murphy led off the inning by reaching on an error, but was called out trying to steal due to batter’s interference.
With two outs, Nolan White reached on an error and Wallman drew a walk to put runners at first and second with two outs. A strikeout ended the game, though, making the final score 1-0.
With the loss, Beatrice falls to 3-7 on the season. They played Tuesday night at Gretna. For those results, see Thursday’s edition of the Daily Sun.
