Scottville to appoint new commissioner Monday
SCOTTVILLE — Three candidates — including one former city commissioner — will vie for the opportunity to represent Scottville’s First Ward Monday at city hall.
Ed Hahn, Mary Waller and Brian Benyo will be interviewed during a special Committee of the Whole meeting at 4:30 p.m.
The interview session will be held prior to the regular city commission meeting at 5:30 p.m., during which a new commissioner will be appointed.
City Manager Amy Williams said the three candidates submitted letters of interest for the position following the Jan. 7 resignation of Leon Begue.
Begue was initially appointed in February 2016 to replace Hahn, who had resigned a month prior citing differences of opinion with the other members of the commission. Hahn said at the time that he did not believe his fellow commissioners were adequately addressing the financial needs of the city.
