Traffic stop results in two arrests
An Iowa man was arrested in Pierre Sunday after police say he was found driving a vehicle with no license plates and carrying marijuana.
Pierre police Capt. Jason Jones said an officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Highland Avenue because the vehicle didn’t have any license plates. The driver, Michael Schoppman, 57, of Haywarden, Iowa, was found to be driving with a revoked license. A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Jones said.
Schoppman was arrested on suspicion of driving under revocation and possessing drugs and paraphernalia. His passenger, Cynthia Day, 53, of Sioux Falls was arrested on suspicion of ingesting a drug and possessing a drug.
