Lightning hits military drill; 31 Brazil soldiers injured
SAO PAULO (AP) — The Brazilian Army says lightning struck a military drill by the presidential security detail, injuring 31 soldiers.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon in the capital city of Brasilia.
The Army says in an emailed statement that the lightning struck during a heavy downpour while the soldiers were training in an open area near their battalion.
Some of the soldiers were knocked unconscious and others suffered minor burns. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
