WOODSTOCK 50 ORGANIZERS SEEK NEW FUNDING
NEW YORK (AP) _ The organizers of the Woodstock 50th anniversary concert say they are trying to line up a new source of funding and a new production company after a judge ruled on Wednesday a former investor did not have the power to call it off. The judge also ruled that investor Amplifi Live did not have to put back the $18 million it had invested. Amplifi Live says it was reclaiming what was left of its $49 million investment. The concert has already booked more than 80 acts, including Jay-Z, Dead and Company, Chance the Rapper, Miley Cyrus and The Killers. With only three months until showtime, tickets have yet to go on sale, permits are still in the works and road improvements and a temporary water system have not been completed. The festival is set for Aug. 16-18 in Watkins Glen, New York.
COUNTRY MUSICIANS CONSIDER THEIR OWN MUSIC FOR WEDDINGS
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Figuring out what song the bride and groom will have their first dance to is as complicated for country singers as it is for everyone else. Scotty McCreery wrote his own, “This Is It,” for his wedding. He says he gets probably ten requests a day inviting him to sing it at other people’s weddings. Devin Dawson, who is engaged, says it can be uncomfortable asking a fellow singer to do a song at his wedding, although he did it for Dan Smyers of Dan and Shay. Dawson says he started crying during the second verse and he was trying to sing and cry at the same time. Chuck Wicks recently got engaged as well and he’s already decided he will not sing any of his own music at his wedding. However, he says once everyone starts drinking, he might end up singing “Stealing Cinderella” after all.
