Blake Shelton most played country artist of 2017

The tallies are in, and according to Mediabase’s calculations, Blake Shelton was the most played artist on country radio in 2017.

Rolling Stone reports Shelton is both the year’s most-played male and overall artist, thanks largely to his two multi-week No. 1 hits - “A Guy With a Girl” and “Every Time I Hear That Song.”

Maren Morris was the most-played female artist of the year, while Florida Georgia Line takes the top duo or group honor for the fifth year in a row. 2017′s top new artist is Luke Combs. This year, 24 men scored No. 1 hits while only three women achieved that feat.

ARREST, APOLOGIES: Michael Ray has apologized after being arrested in his hometown of Eustis, Florida, eight days ago. After a collision at a McDonald’s drive-thru, he was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of cannabis oil containing THC.

Ray told People magazine, “I want to apologize to my fans, family and my hometown community for placing myself in this situation. I am so very sorry for the disappointment these events have caused everyone. I know it will take time; however, I will do everything I can to rebuild your trust.” The “Get to You” singer was released from jail on a $6,000 bond.

NEW BABY: Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and his wife, Hayley, received a special early Christmas gift last Saturday - their baby daughter!

People.com reports Olivia Rose Hubbard was born in Nashville at 4:56 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

“We’re so overwhelmed with joy and already more in love than we could have ever imagined with this little angel that God has given us,” Tyler Hubbard said.

“Olivia is the best Christmas gift we could have ever asked for.” Olivia is the couple’s first child.

HOLIDAY TOUR: Jerrod Niemann kicked off the USO’s annual holiday tour - led by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford - last Thursday.

The troupe’s first stop of a weeklong trip spreading holiday cheer was Moron Air Base in Spain where they met with service members from the 469th Air Base Squadron and the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Talk Force Crisis Response - Africa.

The 2017 tour also features professional wrestlers Michael “The Miz” Mizanin and Alicia Fox; actor-comedians Adam DeVine and Iliza Shlesinger; and celebrity chef and talk show host Robert Irvine and his wife, Gail Kim-Irvine, a professional wrestler, model and actress. Niemann’s new single is called “I Got This.”

It’s featured on his latest album, “This Ride.”
