An Ohio man caught with over 8 pounds of heroin during a December traffic stop in Butler Twp. entered a guilty plea in federal court, court papers say.

Curtis Riley, 56, of Dayton, signed the plea agreement Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over one kilogram of heroin and fentanyl.

A Pennsylvania State Police SHIELD (Safe Highways Initiative for Effective Law Enforcement and Detection) unit arrested him in December after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 east. They found the drugs stashed in an aftermarket hidden compartment after stopping him for driving in the left lane when the right lane was available. That case was later withdrawn and the federal indictment was lodged against him.
