Tyngsboro Boys Qualify for MIAA State Tourney

Jens Georgs, Tyler Barlow and Alex Dai won their singles matches while leading Groton-Dunstable to a 4-1 victory over Shepherd Hill in a Midland-Wachusett League boys tennis match.

In girls action, Tyngsboro picked up a 5-0 win over Tyngsboro, and Tewksbury continued its fine season with a 4-1 conquest of the Academy of Notre Dame.

BOYS TENNIS —

GROTON-DUNSTABLE 4, SHEPHERD HILL 1 — Alex O’Brien and Ryan Stiles teamed up a for win at second doubles for the Crusaders.

LAWRENCE 4, LOWELL 1 — Lawrence defeated Lowell in a Merrimack Valley Conference match.

John Phan won at third singles for Lowell.

HAVERHILL 4, LOWELL 1 — Haverhill beat Lowell in a Merrimack Valley Conference match.

Isak Casaubon won at third singles for the Red Raiders (0-15).

Heather Carroll and Murphy Fournier played well at first doubles.

TYNGSBORO SWEEPS —

The Tigers collected 5-0 and 4-1 road wins over West Boylston, lifting the team to a 9-6 record and qualifying them for the state tournament.

At No. 1 singles, Jackson Lundberg earned 5-0 and 4-1 victories. Alex Schmidt won 8-3 and K.J. Moore was an 8-0 winner at No. 2 singles. Tyngsboro won both No. 3 matches via forfeit.

At doubles, the teams of Moore/ Trey Marcantonio, Tirith Bhagat/Dylan Sinoun, and Peter Lam/Patrick Sorensen were victorious.

HUDSON 4, NORTH MIDDLESEX 1 — Caleb Amidon posted a win at first singles for North Middlesex.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC SWEEPS BILLERICA — Adrian Suciu, Zach Channen and Rich Rosa won 2 matches each as Central Catholic (9-4) won two matches against Billerica, 5-0, 5-0.

GIRLS TENNIS —

NASHOBA REGIONAL SWEEPS GROTON-DUNSTABLE — Nashoba Regional won a pair of matches against Groton-Dunstable, 5-0, 5-0, on Tuesday.

Megan Quinn played well at third singles for the Crusaders.

TYNGSBORO 5, WEST BOYLSTON 0 — Maggie Yang, Natalie Barros and Suzanna Samuel won their singles matches while leading Tyngsboro past West Boylston.

TEWKSBURY 4, ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME 1 — Elizabeth Ezekiel and Alexia Chesbrough posted singles wins while helping Tewksbury defeat Notre Dame in a Merrimack Valley Conference match.

Jaime Burns and Lizzy Taggart teamed up for a win at first doubles, while the team of Alexis Hillis and Emma White won at second doubles for Tewksbury (11-4).

GROTON-DUNSTABLE 4, SHEPHERD HILL 1 — Alekhya Puttagunta and Lina Abu-Absi won their singles matches while helping Groton-Dunstable beat Shepherd Hill in a Midland-Wachusett League match.

Posting wins at doubles was the first doubles team of Megan Quinn and Heather Carroll and the second doubles team of Chloe Peng and Abbie Axon.

WILMINGTON 4, WAKEFIELD 1 — Emily Hill won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, to set the tone for Wilmington’s Middlesex League win.

Also winning singles matches were Carolyn Roney, 6-0, 6-0, and Lia Kourkoutas, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, the No. 1 team of Jess and Lauren D’Arco were 6-0, 6-0 winners for Wilmington (10-5, 7-2 Middlesex League).

LOWELL 5, LAWRENCE 0 — Nina Phan, Diana Viloria and Emily McCluskey won their singles matches as Lowell beat Lawrence in a Merrimack Valley Conference match.

Teaming up for a win at first doubles were Emily Sousa and Alexsia Ortiz, while Katheryn Aristazabal and Kimleng Kit combined for a win a second doubles for Lowell (2-14).

HAVERHILL 4, LOWELL 1 — Haverhill beat Lowell in an MVC match. Katherine Aristizabal and Aimee Carrabis teamed up for a doubles win for Lowell.
