Man Wanted In Wyoming Apprehended

A fugitive wanted on sexual assault charges in the borough of Wyoming was apprehended in Hazleton on Thursday afternoon. Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale said Luis Steve Rivera, 24, was located at his residence, in the 800 block of Alter Street, and taken into custody at 4:45 p.m. Speziale said based on information received from Wyoming borough police and a search of the Hazleton Police Department’s intelligence reporting system, Rivera’s address was confirmed based on a ticket issued to him in 2016. Hazleton police officers immediately responded to the location and arrested Rivera on charges of aggravated indecent assault to a person under the age of 16, indecent assault to a person under the age of 16, indecent assault without consent of another, simple assault, harassment, and corruption of minors. Rivera was detained at Hazleton police headquarters pending Wyoming police Department officers taking him into custody. — STAFF REPORT
