Downtown buildings sell in Stamford’s top deal of 2017

July 25, 2017 GMT

STAMFORD — A downtown office complex changed hands earlier this month for some $97 million, in the city’s largest property sale of the year so far.

Manhattan commercial real estate firm SL Green Realty Corp. sold Stamford Towers, which comprises the buildings at 680 Washington Blvd. and 750 Washington Blvd. Those edifices respectively commanded about $42 million and $53.7 million, according to city property-transfer records. An adjacent parcel at 734 Washington Blvd. sold for about $1.2 million.

The Los Angeles-based buyers, whose names appear in city records as variations of “SPUS8 Washington Blvd,” list the same address as commercial-real estate investment giant CBRE Global Investors, which is also based on South Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles. A stamfordtowers.com website describes CBRE Global Investors as the property’s “new ownership.”

CBRE officials were not immediately available for comment. A message left Monday for SL Green was not immediately returned.
