BRIDGEPORT - A local man is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy.

Santiago Aviles, 46, was charged Wednesday with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and impairing the morals of a child.

He was held in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Police said that in January a teacher at the boy’s school noticed that the child’s behavior had dramatically changed and confronted the boy about it. At that point, police said, the boy broke down and said he had been sexually assaulted by Aviles, a friend of the family.

Police said that during a later forensic interview at the Center for Family Justice, the boy said Aviles had been wrestling with him in the living room of his home and then sexually assaulted him.

The boy said Aviles threatened to hurt him if he told what happened, police said.
