Fundraising page set up for Shop & Shop employees on strike
Hundreds of people have raised more than $30,000 for Stop & Shop employees who have been on strike across New England for nine days.
After unsuccessful negotiations, 31,000 workers walked off the job April 11 and have yet to return. Connecticut employees have been on strike since, stationed outside their stores, picketing.
The fundraiser, created by UFCW International Union, has been shared on Facebook from its GoFundMe site more than 6,000 times as of 7:30 p.m. Friday. A goal of $250,000 has been set. Of that, 667 people have raised $33,491.
