2 workers injured in Colorado explosion sue site operators
DENVER (AP) — Two workers injured in an oil tank explosion have filed a lawsuit against the site operators.
The Denver Post reports that Roberto Yanez and Emilio Dominguez were seriously injured in the May 2017 explosion at the Sekich Tank Battery in Mead.
The lawsuit says Energes Services LLC and Kerr McGee Oil & Gas Onshore LP were responsible for the accident at the site about 37 miles (60 kilometers) north of Denver.
The lawsuit says the companies failed to prevent the buildup of explosive vapors from oil storage tanks that led to the blast that injured Yanez and Dominguez, while also killing one man and injuring another who is not involved in the lawsuit.
An Energes Services representative declined to comment and Kerr McGee representatives could not be reached for comment.
