Kudos to Dan Gilbert and Tom Horsman – Cheer of the Day: editorial

CHEERS . . . to Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cavaliers and of the Avenue Mall, a part of Tower City Center, for reversing a policy that mandates that people wait for buses outside in the frigid cold and to Tom Horsman, a transit rider who brought the cold-hearted policy to Gilbert’s attention.

Horsman said that an unidentified security guard ordered people to stand outside to catch their buses despite the freezing weather, so he took a photo of the guard on Friday night and sent a tweet to Gilbert about the guard’s cruel order.

Gilbert or his aide sent back a tweet two hours later saying “All folks taking the transit are welcome to wait INSIDE.”

A warmer wait

You wouldn’t think that Gilbert’s staff would have to be told that.
