Major travel delays continue after fiery Turnpike crash

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) — Motorists faced heavy delays early Thursday on a stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike as crews needed several hours to clean up after a tanker truck carrying propane overturned and burst into flames.

The accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the highway in Woodbridge. It wasn’t clear if the truck driver or anyone else was injured in the crash.

Crews were still off-loading the propane Thursday morning, and the process continued through the morning commute. The highway’s northbound outer lanes were finally reopened around 9a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
