Chara Sent Back to Boston with Injury
Banged up in Wednesday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara was sent back to Boston on Thursday for evaluation.
“Zdeno Chara will travel back to Boston to be re-evaluated by team doctors. The team will issue further updates when available,” the Bruins tweeted Thursday
The 41-year-old left Wednesday’s game after his left knee appeared to buckle while closing in on a hit on Colorado’s Carl Soderberg in the first period. The Bruins announced early in the second period that Chara wouldn’t return due to a lower-body injury.
The Boston captain joins Charlie McAvoy, Kevan Miller and Brandon Carlo as defensemen currently missing time due to injury.
Defenseman Connor Clifton was called up from Providence by the team on an emergency basis earlier in the day Thursday. The Bruins face the Stars in Dallas tonight.
