STAMFORD — The new U.S. Post Office at 550 Summer Street will hold its grand opening on Monday, a postal service official said.

Mayor David Martin, Jack Condlin, president of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and David Mastroianni, the U.S. Postal Service district manager will attend a brief dedication ceremony at 11 a.m., spokeswoman Christine Dugas said.

The new facility will have 24 hour lobby access seven days a week, allowing box-holders to pick up their mail at their convenience, Dugas said. There are nearly 1,000 mail boxes — with many available for rent, she said.

The facility has three customer service counters and will be open for retail services from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
