February 23, 2019 GMT

HUNTINGTON - The Huntington Police Department arrested a juvenile overnight Thursday in connection with threats being made toward Huntington High School earlier in the evening.

According to Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial, HPD received a call that an individual was making threats toward Huntington High School students. The investigation found the threat to be credible.

HPD arrested a male juvenile overnight and charged him with threats of terrorist acts. The investigation was carried out in close cooperation with the Cabell County Board of Education, Dial said.

Dial said the individual will go before the justice system and the Cabell County Schools Disciplinary Board simultaneously.

“It was a very successful investigation, and our goal is always the safety of the kids,” Dial said. “I am glad to have been able to apprehend the suspect before school started the next day.”

Dial said because the suspect is a juvenile, no further details will be revealed about the case.
