May 21, 2019

A Philadelphia woman is facing charges alleging she slipped a large quantity of drugs to an inmate during a visit Saturday at State Correctional Institution Dallas. Shaniqua Nafiysa Brown, 26, is facing drug-trafficking charges after troopers said she passed an inmate 116 strips of Suboxone, which is commonly used to treat opioid addiction. Police said Brown initially denied smuggling the drugs, but then admitted giving an unknown package to the inmate, Daniel Riley, 27. Charges are also pending against Riley, police said. Magisterial District Judge Michael G. Dotzel arraigned Brown on the charges and ordered her held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility with bail set at $50,000. — JAMES HALPIN
