Westville boys hoops downs Caston

Westville’s boys basketball team topped Caston 66-57 on the road on Saturday afternoon. Josh DeChantal tallied 23 points and eight rebounds for the Blackhawks (9-10), and Jace Woods scored 22. Preston Lake recorded 11 points, and LaQunn Wilson had six points, six assists, five boards and five steals.

Bowl For The Cure’s Bowl-a-thon Sunday

Bowl For The Cure’s 18th annual Bowl-a-thon, to raise money for the Women’s Center at Franciscan Health Hospital, will be on Sunday at City Lanes in Michigan City. All are welcome. Check in at 9 a.m. that day with bowling starting at 10. This is a 9 pin no-tap bowl-a-thon. All bowlers are asked to bring pledges. They’ll have door awards and a raffle table. Michigan City-Marian boys game Tuesday

Michigan City’s boys basketball game at Mishawaka Marian has been moved to Tuesday. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity game following.

Blazers boys hoops time change

Marquette’s game on Thursday with Goshen will be a varsity-only contest and will begin at 6 p.m. and not 7:15, as originally scheduled. Players and parents will be recognized for Senior Night prior to tip-off with ceremonies taking place following the game.

Ernie Banks book to be released

Author Doug Wilson will hold a book signing and discussion on Let’s Play Two: The Life and Times of Ernie Banks, the first complete biography of the famed Mr. Cub, at 1 p.m. on March 2 at The Getaway Grille and Cubbies Bar in Bridgman, Mich. The book, to be released Friday, sheds insight into Banks’ personality and his impact on the game and fans.
