Man sentenced for killing repair technician at LA area home
LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for killing a technician he called to his Southern California home to repair his refrigerator.
William Hughes was convicted May 29 of first-degree murder. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says the 32-year-old was sentenced Thursday after the judge ruled he was sane during the commission of the crime.
Thirty-six-year-old Lyndi Fisher was found at Hughes’ Lancaster home suffering from blunt force trauma in 2017. She died a short time later.
Hughes initially said he stepped out while Fisher made the repair and returned to find her unconscious on the floor. He was arrested after telling investigators conflicting stories.
Prosecutors said Fisher had repaired another appliance at Hughes’ home a month before the killing.
