Officials identify Akron man shot to death in city’s Kenmore neighborhood

AKRON, Ohio -- Officials identified an Akron man killed Tuesday in a shooting in the city’s Kenmore neighborhood.

Frank Vinson Jr., 23, was shot in the chest shortly after 1:30 p.m. on 14th Street SW near West Wilbeth Avenue, the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Vinson was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooting remains under investigation, police said Wednesday afternoon. Detectives have not announced any arrests.

Officers found Vinson fatally shot by a sidewalk, police said. Detectives have not offered a motive for the shooting.
