Screnock will uphold rule of law -- Sallie Helmer
Sauk County Circuit Court Judge Michael Screnock is running for state Supreme Court to replace outgoing Justice Michael Gableman.
Justices Rebecca Bradley and Daniel Kelly, and former Justices David Prosser and Jon Wilcox, are endorsing Screnock.
Screnock was born and raised in Wisconsin, graduated from Baraboo High School and graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in mathematics. He attended Eastern College (now University), receiving his MBA with an emphasis in urban economic development. After nearly 12 years serving in local government, Screnock returned to UW-Madison to earn his law degree.
He has said he is dedicated to upholding the separation of powers and the rule of law and pointed out his opponents don’t share his views. At a forum, Screnock explained that, “One of them has called the notion of an impartial judiciary a fairy tale, the other has referred to the rule of law as garbage, and both of them have been actively campaigning on the political issues that they hold dear. ... And I find that practice deeply troubling.”
Michael and his wife, Karen, have three adult sons and one daughter-in-law, who all live in Wisconsin. Vote for Judge Screnock on Feb. 20, the candidate who will respect the Constitution and the rule of law.
