Kishwaukee Family YMCA announces Health Kids Day event
SYCAMORE – Already wondering how you’ll keep your children’s brains active this summer? The Kishwaukee Family YMCA hopes to inspire them with a Health Kids Day event April 26.
The free event at the Y, 2500 Bethany Road, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and feature educational games, family-friendly activities, a vendor fair, program demonstrations, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and more, according to a news release.
Health Kids Day is an annual nationwide event geared to help children keep their minds and bodies active while school is out of session. The event helps establish healthy routines and habits, according to the release.
“When kids are out of school, they can face hurdles that prevent them from reaching their full potential,” according to the release. “Research shows that without access to out-of-school learning activities, kids fall behind academically. Kids also gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. As spring turns to summer, Healthy Kids Day is a powerful reminder not to let children idle away their summer days.”
