Kurker to Play for Jamaica at Worlds
Senior midfielder Cliff Kurker (Needham) of the UMass Lowell men’s lacrosse team has been selected to compete for Team Jamaica in the 2018 FIL Lacrosse World Championships in Netanya, Israel.
Kurker played in all 16 games in his junior campaign, recording nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
Team Jamaica will play its first game Thursday.
Five members of the WPI swimming & diving program, including Jennifer Day of Chelmsford, secured College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America All-America Team honors for their work in the pool and in the classroom.
Day, a three-time honorable mention, collected her third CSCAA Scholar All-America honor.
The individuals achieved a GPA of 3.50 and competed at an NCAA Regional.
WPI’s Eva Barinelli of Tewksbury was recognized following the spring rowing season by being named to the NIRC All-Academic Team, as announced by USRowing.
In all, 16 members of the team were recognized following the May regattas. It was the second NIRC honor for Barinelli, a junior who rowed on the Women’s Varsity Eight.
For a student-athlete to be named to the NIRC All-Academic Team they must maintain a GPA of 3.35 and be a varsity rower.
