LPD seeks suspect who threatened store employees with firearm

September 3, 2016 GMT

Laredo police said Friday they are seeking a man who threatened two convenience store employees with a gun after they told him he could not by beer.

At about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 25, Laredo PD was dispatched to a report of an armed man at the Sunrise Convenience Store, 1519 Market St.

Store personnel told police that a man had walked into the store demanding to buy beer. They said he appeared to be intoxicated and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance. When employees told him he could not buy the alcohol, he left but soon returned with a black semiautomatic handgun.

Police said he cocked the gun, pointed it at the employees and shouted obscenities at them.

The employees felt threatened and feared for their lives, police said.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect ran outside of the convenience store and entered a small dark-colored vehicle. A heavyset man who wore a hat and had multiple tattoos drove the car away from the store, heading north on Meadow.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects is asked to contact Laredo Police at 795-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS. You can also text a tip at 847411, keyword: Laredo. All calls will remain anonymous.
