‘The Honeymooners’ episodes set for Pine Island stage
PINE ISLAND — The early days of television will come to life on the stage of the Olde Pine Theatre when “The Honeymooners: The Lost Episodes,” is presented April 20-29.
The show is based on original scripts from 1951 episodes of Jackie Gleason’s popular television series “Cavalcade of Stars.” Gleason and his co-stars performed a series of sketches known as “The Honeymooners,” which eventually evolved into one of the more popular sitcoms of the 1950s. Gleason starred as Ralph Kramden, a Brooklyn, N.Y., bus driver with a larger-than-life persona.
Those “Cavalcade of Stars” sketches have been adapted for Pine Area People for the Arts by Ted Galaty, who directs this show. The cast features Rich Mansfield as Kramden, and Heather Hauser as his wife, Alice. Also in the show are Randy Torgeson, Eli Renik, Stephanie Pocklington, Jon Pocklington, Aza Johnson, Henry Hildenbrand, Cynthi Bjorn and Adam Lemke.
