Magician’s car disappears from West Towne Mall, police say

June 20, 2018

A thief didn’t need a magic wand to make a magician’s car disappear Monday on Madison’s West Side, just a set of keys left in the unlocked car.

The auto theft happened sometime between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at West Towne Mall, Madison police said.

“The owner said the vehicle had been left unlocked and there was a spare set of keys in the center console,” said police officer David Dexheimer.

Magician’s equipment, including magic cards and props, also were in the car, and were of some considerable value, the victim told police.

“Lock your cars and homes and don’t leave valuables in cars,” Dexheimer said. “Theft of your property is more than a dirty trick.”
