Land values and cash rents highlighted at farm show
NORFOLK - The 32nd annual Northeast Nebraska Farm and Equipment Show was this week and UNL Extension Economist Jim Jansen was on hand hosting a pair of educational seminars.
Jansen tells News Talk WJAG land in Nebraska is one the biggest assets we have in the state.
He says people are connected to it in multiple ways, and his talk helped understand the value more and cash rents.
“A lot of folks are wondering what they should be paying for rent as a producer and it’s not an easy question to answer. There’s a lot of debate right now relating to property values and property taxes.”
Jansen says with the current government shutdown he also encourages producers to stay up to date on deadlines from the local farm service agency offices and be patient as the employees have a backlog of work to complete.
