Washington state investigating poaching of pregnant deer
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Washington state wildlife officials are investigating the poaching of a pregnant deer.
The Columbian reported Thursday that officers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife say the doe was found with multiple bullet wounds near Battle Ground.
Officials say the deer was likely shot between May 23 and 24 and left near a road. The animal was found at a later date near the city 16 miles (26 kilometers) north of Vancouver, Washington.
Officials say the deer was carrying twin, male fawns that were days from being born.
Authorities are still investigating.
