Man gets 10 years for fatal DUI
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally striking a pedestrian while driving drunk.
The Palm Beach Post reports that 31-year-old Dennis Wright was sentenced Wednesday. He pleaded guilty earlier this month to DUI manslaughter.
Wright admitted that he had been drinking heavily for much of the day in May 2016 before driving down a Delray Beach street at more than 100 mph (161 kph). Wright says he knew he hit something but didn’t realize until later that it was 25-year-old Jordan Parsons, who died several days later.
Wright was eventually arrested and charged in the death.
