Ansonia police: Baby’s injuries consistent with abuse, mother charged
ANSONIA — A Shelton woman was arrested Wednesday following a child abuse investigation from last year, police Lt. Patrick Lynch said.
Migdalia Camilini-Otero, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue in Shelton, was arrested on a warrant charging her with first-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and first-degree reckless endangerment, Lynch said.
Her arrest was the result of an investigation by the police department’s Patrol Division and Detective Bureau. Their investigation followed a May 2017 complaint, “of Camilini-Otero’s three-month-old baby suffering from multiple bone fractures,” Lynch said.
The baby was treated at Yale New Haven Hospital.
“The victim had multiple rib fractures, a fractured clavicle and a broken foot along with other injuries,” Lynch said. :The injuries were consistent with abuse and not the result of an accident.”
The baby was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
Camilini-Otero was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
