U.S. Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Omriyana C. Brown graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Brown is the daughter of Alfred Brown of Cypress, and Ruth Brown of Katy and granddaughter of Avenell Perry and Maxine Kelly of Houston.

She is a 2015 graduate of Katy High School, Katy.


Air Force Col. James S. Griffin has arrived for duty as a chief, Homeland Division with Joint Staff, J-5, Pentagon, in Washington, D.C.

Griffin is the son of Charleen and James Griffin of Katy. He is also the husband of Christine Griffin.

The airman graduated in 1989 from Katy High School, Katy, and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1993 from U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
