Wayne State’s Dendinger named NSIC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Wayne State senior thrower Michaela Dendinger was named the NSIC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week following her performance in last weekend’s Fort Hays State Classic in Hays, Kansas.
Dating back to last year’s outdoor season, Dendinger has now received the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week seven consecutive times. Dendinger, a graduate of Hartington High, hit NCAA automatic qualifying marks in the shot put and hammer throw and reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the discus. She won the shot put at 51’ 11 ½” and was second and the top collegiate thrower with a toss of 205’ 10” in the hammer throw in Hays, giving her the top marks in both events in NCAA Division II after two weeks of the outdoor season. Dendinger also won the discus with a provisional qualifying mark of 162’ 11”, which currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II.
