Baby Names: The Bottom Of The List In 2017

May 12, 2018 GMT

The bottom of the list of baby names includes some on the way up, some that will never catch on and a few that have plummeted from their heyday. Among the boys who sound like body sprays and the girls who sound like butlers sit Seymour, Luanne and Ernestine. Still, considering the newfound popularity of Octavia and Luella, not to mention No. 9 Evelyn, there’s a chance those elderly monikers may join the cool kids again. The searchable database on the Social Security Administration site has only the top 1,000 names, but the agency releases a “beyond 1,000” list that goes down to names selected for only five babies last year. (Any fewer and it would be a security risk, they say.) Among those creative outliers: Boys: Addix, Akyng, Albee, Andretti, Anikin, Axe, Bender, Caillou, Capone, Cerulean, Decatur, Demoney, Galaxy, Goliath, Hux, Jw, Kapone, Kdyn, Keats, Kentrail, Kermit, Kindred, Kingkarter, Klever, Kosmos, Little, Mowgli, Neon, Poet, Princewilliam, Rage, Remedy, Sirprince, Suede, Vedder, Yeltsin and Zevon. Girls: Ackley, Aulbree, Autumnrayne, Bg, Briggs, Cabela, Camberlynn, Chimera, Couture, Crew, Dash, Demiracle, Eclipse, Fedora, Goodness, Greatness, Keanu, Lumiere, Mercury, Owsley, Rook, Saturn, Scylla, Shiny, Steelie, Stetson, Tamiracle, Vegas and Yuma.
